In cities around the world, the creative arts and interactive digital media sectors are bringing their respective skills together to imagine and create exciting new events, art and products – merging digital technologies with artistic practice. In Manitoba, we’re ready to showcase what our vibrant arts community and interactive digital media sector can do together.

The Merging Mindsets Conference will expand opportunities for artists to create using digital technologies while broadening connections with interactive digital media (IDM) related companies that want to innovate using creative talent. Join us as we embark on an exciting community-building event exploring the digital tech in art and the art in digital tech while connecting the people in between.

Be one of 200 artists, digital tech experts and community leaders gathering to listen to 2 formidable keynote speakers and 4-panel presentations that invite conversation and participation through round table discussions. Help identify strengths, challenges and opportunities as our arts community embraces new technologies in partnership with our interactive digital media community.

About the Merging Mindsets Partners

Creative Manitoba strengthens, represents and connects Manitoba’s arts and creative industries. Our entrepreneurship training and mentorship opportunities teach artists how to sustain themselves creatively and financially. Our arts specific management training increases productivity and profitability in arts and cultural organizations. We promote the value of the arts. In support of this work, we create and publish directories of artists and creative workers, conduct research and share the findings through educational seminars and outreach. Our creative coworking space supports business growth for independent creative entrepreneurs and creates a focal point for the arts and creative industries in Manitoba. We unite and engage employers, workers, educators, professional associations and government in a strategic alliance, enabling the arts and cultural sector to thrive.

New Media Manitoba is the Sector Council for Information, Communication and Digital Technologies and a non-profit association committed to growing Manitoba’s Interactive Digital Media (IDM) industry. NMM fosters growth in Manitoba’s IDM industry through government advocacy, best in class training, industry events, business development opportunities, sourcing and placing highly qualified personnel, work experience opportunities for students and partnerships with fellow organizations. NMM represents a diverse group of IDM professionals and member companies who produce innovative products and services including video games, mobile apps, web design and development, transmedia, digital health software, augmented and virtual reality, interactive installations, visual effects and more.

Video Pool Media Arts Centre is Manitoba’s only arts organization dedicated to the exploration of technology-based art in an inclusive environment. We aim to inspire curiosity and creative expression in all media art forms through presentation, production, preservation, and education opportunities that include sound, video, electronics, VR, and physical computing. We house the largest collection of prairie video art in Canada, present work at the intersection of technology and art in our Poolside Gallery, and The Output, our A/V performance and rehearsal venue, provides new opportunities for performance based work.
